After a steady start in February with 16 qualifying events through to April, the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup is set to spring to life in May with 15 events across 4 continents in just 23 days.
Just 3 of the 16 qualifiers from February to April took place outside of Asia however May will see the Series’ return to Europe with a double header starting off the month in style. Albatross Golf Club will be the site of the Prague event while Royal Malta Golf Club will welcome back TAWGC competitors once again on May 4th and 5th respectively.
The following day, golfers will tee up in Egypt at a new venue for TAWGC Hurghada when the picturesque El Gouda Golf Course will open its doors to the series. A return to Dreamland Golf Club in Baku a day later closes an action-packed opening week in which four more personally-invited guests of Turkish Airlines will have taken one step closer to the Pro-Am at the European Tour-sanctioned Turkish Airlines Open in November.
The Series then moves on for the first time in 2017 to China where Royal Orchid Golf Club will be hosting participants in Guangzhou once again. A day later, Engelab Sports Complex hosts TAWGC for the second year in Tehran before a 6 day break in qualifying events.
The action then moves on to Kuala Lumpur, Geneva and a double-header in Mauritius and Atlanta all taking place from May 18th to May 20th. Sheshan Golf Club, home of the WGC HSBC Champions, then sets the scene in Shanghai, giving players the chance to follow in the footsteps of Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and company at one of the finest courses in the world. Later that day, all roads lead to Rome and Circolo de Golf Acquasanta.
A busy month is concluded in typical TAWGC fashion with 3 events in 2 days as a double-header in Singapore then Madrid, with a return to the Garden Course of Tanah Merah Country Club and Golf Santander respectively. Finally, Kiev Golf Club is the site where the final winner of the month will book their ticket to Belek in October and November for the Grand Finals.
