May Finishes with a Flurry
One of the busiest months of the TAWGC Calendar came to a close in Kiev, Ukraine after 17 events across 4 continents saw 17 new Grand Finalist confirm their place in Belek.
The month began in style with 4 events in consecutive days in Prague, Malta, Hurghada and Baku saw Jakub Majzlik, John J. Micallef, Arthur Holleyman and Stephen Minto claim victories. At Dreamland Golf Club, Azerbaijan’s premier golf course, Stephen Minto was thrilled to be heading to Turkey stating: “I’m absolutely delighted to be going to the Grand Finals in Turkey. I played really well today but will be back on the driving range tomorrow to start preparing for Belek in October.”
3 days later, the series headed east to Asia where Royal Orchid Golf Club in Guangzhao hosted 92 golfers with Jin Hang Wong coming out on top. Later in the week, Tehran hosted its 2nd TAWGC Qualifying event at Engelab Sports Complex where a net 59 was enough for Ehsan Karimian to win in front of national celebrities, actress Behnoush Tabatabaei and former international footballer Shpejtim Arifi were in attendance.
The 18th May saw TAWGC return to TPC KL, home of the CIMB Classic, for the Kuala Lumpur qualifying event in which Au Seng Thoy came out on top. Four events in the following 2 days saw Cologne, Geneva, Atlanta and Mauritius welcome Rafal Waligora, Antoine Martignon and Patrick Ng Ah Ngan to the Grand Final.
Sheshan Golf Club in Shanghai then gave guests a chance to follow in the footsteps of the world’s best players at the home of the HSBC Champions.
Rome and Vienna’s Grand Final spots over May 22nd-23rd were taken by Marco Sessich and Erwin Braunsteiner. The final stretch saw Madrid, Singapore and Kiev add Miguel Morales Glaski, Kunal Awasthy and Oleg Grebelnikov to the Grand Final field.
In total, May saw 1300 players across 16 countries and 4 continents take part in the world’s largest amateur corporate golf series.
