Just 103 days since the 2018 Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup was concluded, the 2019 series teed off in Bahrain, as 100 golfers battled it out for a place in this year’s Grand Final in Antalya.
With five new destinations on the calendar, 2019 promises to be the most exciting year in the history of the series with 100 qualifiers in 74 countries making the TAWGC the world’s widest-reaching corporate amateur golf series.
The first event of 2019 was a change of scenery after being held in India during previous years. Royal Golf Club Bahrain was the venue in 2019 where Shakhil Hubail became the first 2019 TAWGC Grand Finalist with a score of points.
Almost a month passed before the series was back in action when the world-renowned Yas Links in Abu Dhabi hosted for the second year in a row. Dr Kassem Alom came out on top.
A busy weekend followed with events in Karachi, Islamabad, Casablanca and Dammam where Colonel Haseeb, Baber Ali, Abdelilah Falili and Marc Elasmar punched their ticket to Antalya.
Rounding off an exciting first month of action was a trip to Dubai and Riyadh, where Dileep Kumar and Ian Kirk became the 7th and 8th players to join the Grand Finals field.
With the first winner confirming their place in Belek, Turkey for the 2019 Grand Final, attention now turns to April when 6 events will be taking place across the globe beginning with a South African double header in Johannesburg and Cape Town respectively.
