The 2019 Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup is once again proving its credentials as the world’s widest reaching corporate amatuer golf series after a busy month of June in which 19 countries were visited across 4 continents.
One of the highlights of the month was the inaurgural event in Libreville, Gabon, which became the ninth African destination onn the TAWGC calendar. Jules Engogo had the honour of becoming the very first Gabonese golfer to book their place in the TAWGC Grand Finals.
The month started in style with events in Stockholm and Manchester, where following a one year stop at Royal Lytham, the event returned to its rightful home at Royal Birkdale Golf Club.
The venues continued to impress as the Shanghai event followed playing at the home of the HSBC World Golf Championship, Sheshan Golf Club where Ms Xie cemented her spot in Antalya.
A return to The Belfry followed for the Birmingham event which was won by former New Zealand Cricketer, Brendon McCollum with 34 points at the Brabazon Course which has hosted multiple Ryder Cups.
The month finished the way it started with world famous golf courses the site of both the Kuala Lumpur and London events. TPC Kuala Lumpur saw Captain Azland Bin Mohd Isa acheive a hole in one on the way to 44 points to book the Malaysia spot in the finals. The next day was a return to The Grove where Darren Isley came out victorious in beautiful conditions.
In total, June saw 20 events played as the series neared the halfway point.
